Charter Schools - Yes or No ?

I teach at a Charter School in Ohio. My fellow teachers/colleagues at a previous "public school" informed me that my decision to jump ship and scab myself out to an "out of union" job would ruin my chances for future employment. Not knowing of the horrible decision I have made I chose to secure an actual contract position with said charter school since the public school had no permanent position to offer. I have found tha this choice has opened a world of possibility to teach kids that society has given up on. Why does "public schools with unions" fear and loath these charter schools? It is apparent that charter schools tend to take the unwanted and pushed aside children that the "public schools" regard as unworthy. We are providing a service and otherwise would be enabling these kids to stay on at the "public school" setting. I have students who have failed at the public level, passed on to upper high school and all this with onhly a 2nd grade reading level. How is this possible if the "public schools" are doing their jobs and are so much more effective than the "money laundering charter schools?" Lets face it. IKts all about money and the "public schools" feel that teh charter schools are taking money from them. This is only true on state level, local money goes to "public schools" only. Now, you may ask, would I go back to the public schools? YES, I want to be a part of my local district, the schools my sons attend and the schools my tax dollars serve. All I need is a job within my district. I do have children to support and a degree(passion) in teaching special education.
